We at Dive Friends Bonaire understand that, to keep an active interest in our sport, the time will come when divers want to extend their underwater experience. Underwater photography will definitely stimulate interest, as one must perfect their diving skills, if they wish to capture an exciting underwater image.

We also realize that those who are not divers may still wish to partake in active activities on or in the water during their vacations on Bonaire. Our snorkeling programs are certainly well suited!

Underwater Photography

Dive Friends Bonaire recommends using Capture Photo for photographic services. They offer a range of Sea & Sea digital underwater cameras to suit all levels of experience and ability.

The DX 750G is our entry level camera which we would recommend for absolute beginners. The 5.2 megapixel resolution gives picture quality suitable for prints up to 8x10 inches or 20x25cm.

The DX 860G is our intermediate level camera. It is suitable for beginners or more experienced photographers. This camera has large 2.5 inch/6.4cm LCD viewfinder, and a 6.2 megapixel resolution suitable for prints up to 11x14 inches or 28x36 cm.

The DX 8000G is our most advanced camera, with a range of features for the experienced photographer to utilize, such as manual control over focus, aperture, and exposure. It is also simple enough for the beginner to use. The resolution is 8.2 megapixels giving great quality up to 16x20 inches or 40x50 cm.

All of our cameras are supplied with batteries for two dives. We fit all cameras with a memory card sufficient for approximately 300 pictures. For the duration of your rental we will supply batteries and computer storage space for as many pictures as you can take. When you return the camera you will receive a CD containing all of your images.

Capture Photo also offer three levels of photography lessons: • The beginning course is suitable for those with little or no experience with underwater photography. The course provides instruction in basic camera use as well as an introduction to the unique skills required for underwater photography. • The intermediate course is for those who have some knowledge of underwater photography and it includes pre-dive instruction, a post-dive evaluation, and computer enhancement techniques to optimize your images. • The advanced course builds on the intermediate course featuring more in-depth technical and post-dive instruction. This course also includes a high quality 4x6 print of your favorite photograph. All courses include a CD containing all of your images. Snorkeling

You don't have to be a diver in order to join us on a boat trip! We also take special care of our snorkeling guests. If there are snorkelers on board, we ensure that we go to the sites on Klein Bonaire which are also the best for snorkeling. If you wish to snorkel from our boats, please tell us in advance so we can take the best possible care of you.

Under the guidance of our underwater expert, Linda Ridley, snorkeling can be combined with education. She can teach you everything there is to know about aquatic life in our ocean or our mangroves.
