The owners of
Dive Friends Bonaire believe that diving is an activity for
the whole family, and as more and more people feel that scuba
diving is an ideal family activity, we want to provide families
with an opportunity for a shared adventure activity. We follow
PADI standards for teaching children to scuba dive, as well
as noting limitations on dive certifications.
Choose from:
SASY
Your kids can participate in Supplied Air Snorkelling for
Youth experiences. SASY allows them to breathe from a regulator
and mini-tank at the surface while wearing a flotation device,
which does not allow them to submerge. They can feel just
like Mom and Dad, with their own equipment sized just for
them, and under the watchful eye of one of our PADI dive
instructors.
Bubblemaker
Specially designed for chldren 8 and older, the PADI Bubblemaker
program is ideally suited as either a stand-alone SCUBA experience,
or as an introduction to diving for those children who look
forward to getting certified. The participants will submerge
in this program, but it is limited to confined water areas
such as a pool and the depth limitation is 6 feet/2 meters.
Once again, as in any children's activity, our PADI dive
instructors will directly supervise all participants.

Discover
Scuba Diving
Kids may participate in Discover Scuba
and Discover Scuba Diving experience programs. Discover
Scuba is conducted in a confined water area, such as
a pool, and gives a very limited experience to breathing
from a regulator and slightly submerging.
The Discover Scuba Diving experience
program, more commonly called a "resort course",
is an actual dive conducted in open water with
one of our PADI dive instructors or divemasters.
The course includes a video with a classroom session
to discuss basic diving techniques, followed by
a session in shallow water to practice diving techniques.
Immediately afterward, a reef dive will be made
to a maximum depth of 40 feet/12 meters. Additional
dives may be scheduled after successful completion
of this initial course, and can be enjoyed under
the guidance of one of our PADI dive instructors
or divemasters. |
Seal Team
Designed for kids eight years and
older, the Seal Team program teaches the fundamentals of
diving in a pool or shallow ocean environment. As guides
for the Seal Team divers, a multi-cultural group of five
animated characters take divers through the program and
act as role models. Packed with challenges and training,
PADI Seal Team divers build their confidence while making
friends and sharing in the diving experience under the watchful
eye of one of our instructors.
Junior Diver or Junior
Open Water Diver
Those
children who have attained the age of ten years may sign
up for either the Junior Diver (2 dives) or the Junior
Open Water Diver (4 dives) programs. When certified, Junior
Divers can dive only when accompanied by a PADI professional
diver. Junior Open Water Divers may dive only when accompanied
by a PADI professional diver or a certifed adult diver. During
training and after certification, these divers are limited
to 40 feet/12 meters.
Open
Water Diver
By
the age of 15, kids are old enough to receive the normal
PADI Open Water Diver certification. They are allowed to dive
to a maximum depth of 60 feet/18 meters as are all
Open Water Divers.
At
Dive Friends Bonaire, we always take special care of
your children and will make sure they are in the safest
hands and have as much fun as possible! For more information
