Guided
dives
With our guided shore dives you
have complete independence--no more schedules, no
big groups, no time limits. Experience the freedom guided
diving offers you. With the exceptional coral reefs
that surround Bonaire, you are guaranteed great
diving!
Our
East Coast specialist
will show you the underwater world like you have
never seen it before. Thrill with the high waves and
enjoy the beauty of many different species of fish not
found on the leeward coast.
For
an adventurous dive, or an introduction in tech diving,
you can join us for a dive at the windward side of the
island. The currents and the high waves require quite a
lot of diving experience. Due to these rough conditions
a local guide will accompany you, so you know exactly where
to enter and exit from the shore without damaging yourself
or your wetsuit. Due to the different conditions present
at the windward side of Bonaire, you will also find a different
underwater environment in comparison with the leeward side
of the island. Please note that diving on the windward
side of Bonaire is only safe when the weather is quiet
and the sea is relatively calm.
At
Spelonk, also located on the windward side of Bonaire,
three wrecks are present, that are only accessible by boat.
Both the locations of these wrecks and the conditions at
the windward side make these dives both guided tec dives
and a thrilling experience! Please note, East Coast dives
are guided as day dives.
Dive the Hilma
Hooker, a former drug ship which sank next
to the reef. The dive has a maximum depth of 100 feet/ 30
meters, and your guide will show you the best way to see
the entire wreck.
Both Salt
Pier and Town
Pier require a local guide in the
water with you at all times. There
are new security precautions, however, that went into effect
July 1st, 2004 to comply with the new International Ship
and Port Security (ISPS) Code. Bonaire’s
divemasters must now register for permission to lead
guided dives beneath either pier, identification
of divers must accompany requests to dive, and approval
to dive the site must be received in advance. Therefore,
when signing up, please be prepared to submit your full legal
name, country of citizenship, and passport number. Security
officers will check dive groups into the water. Once in,
divers will be free to appreciate the orange cup corals,
colorful sponges, cleaner stations, angelfish, and other
creatures that make this one of the world’s
most loved dive sites. When there is a ship at the pier,
or when Port security is heightened, diving may be prohibited.
Town Pier is normally experienced best at night, but
can also be exciting as a day dive. Salt Pier is normally
dove during the day.
If
you haven't already experienced a night
dive, you are in
for a treat! They are
completely different from the dives you make during the daytime.
Everything looks different; the fish have different colors
than they show during the day; there are other creatures
around which hide when the sun is out and you have to navigate
well to perform a night dive in order to find your way back
to shore. Of course, your Instructor or Dive Master is
there to guide you, and we recommend that you go with one
of our guides for at least you first one or two night dives.
Please note: Dive lights for night diving or night snorkeling are not available for rent, but are available for puchase.
