About
Bonaire
Bonaire
is unique in the world. It is as if this little island
was made just for diving and snorkeling, as, from virtually
any place on the leeward coastline, you can enter the beautiful
Caribbean Sea and dive! Steep walls, sloping drop-offs,
exciting wrecks and last, but not least, the double reef
systems will take your breath away. For over 20 years, Bonaire
has maintained a far sighted dedication to protecting its
natural beauty and environment. The Bonairean people declared
the waters around Bonaire and its little island just off
the coast, Klein Bonaire, an Underwater Marine
Park. Everything between the high water mark and 200 feet/60
meters deep is protected, and, therefore, may not be touched.
Every diver must pay a Nature Fee of US $25.00, valid
throughout the calendar year, and which must be visibly worn
while diving, and which provides free entrance into Washington/Slagbaai
National Park. (The Nature Fee for other users of the Marine
Park--windsurfers, snorkelers, cruisers--is US $10.00.)
